Birding:
The area is known for its diverse bird life, and one of the top ten bird-watching areas in southern Africa.
Over 450 species have been recorded ant the bird watching is excellent all year round, but in summer months the numbers are boosted by migrants such as broadbilled roller and woodland kingfisher. With the Phongolo and Mkuze River to our south we see the typical Zululand bird species, rare sightings such as the pink- throated twin spot and beautiful birds with brilliant colours such as the purple crested lourie.
